The ELM Whole-Child Connection

ELM Editions is developing a family-centred whole-child model designed to help children, families, education, health, social care and other authorised professionals work from a clearer shared understanding.

The proposed model brings together the parts of a child’s experience that are often held separately: their voice, life at home and school, sleep, sensory and emotional needs, significant changes, support already tried, professional perspectives, referrals and agreed actions.

Through secure, role-appropriate access, families could contribute important updates without repeatedly emailing or retelling their story. Professionals could see the information relevant to their responsibilities, while referral progress, action ownership and review points could be made clearer and more transparent.

The ELM Whole-Child Connection is not intended to replace statutory plans, professional records, safeguarding procedures or emergency services. It is being developed as a possible practice and connection layer that could complement emerging digital Individual Support Plans and existing education, health and social-care systems.

The model is currently at discovery and pilot-development stage. ELM Editions is seeking suitable public-sector, family co-design, digital-governance and independent-evaluation partners to test and refine it responsibly.
